Tena tatau Whanau
We had approximately (25) people attend the wananga on Saturday 12 December 2020 at Te Haroto Marae with an apology received from Charlene Otene. We ambitiously set three wananga objectives:
You can download a copy of the presentation that was used to guide korero at the wananga at the bottom of this post.
Hard copies of the 2017-2040 Hineuru Rautaki Reo was distributed at the wananga and after discussion and everyone breaking off into smaller work groups wananga priorities were identified.
Initial discussion was achieved with Objective 3 but the general view was that the tikanga relating to the urupa should continue at another wananga. Large size four generation whakapapa sheets were distributed to participants to think about the whakapapa of te reo Maori amongst whanau. Everyone was encouraged to share their thoughts on objective two through completion of a feedback survey which has been distributed by email. We are keen to know how we can improve and strengthen tribal participation and engagement in the wananga we hold.
Thank you to everyone that attended the wananga. Thanks are also extended to Connie & Karauna Brown who provided us with delicious wananga sustaining kai.
Next year we intend to pick up on the priorities that were identified and use these to plan next year’s wananga programme.
Merry Christmas everyone!
